1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using LittleChapters ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LittleChapters is a mobile application that allows parents and caregivers to create private journals documenting their children's lives. The Service includes:

  • Text-based journal entries
  • Photo uploads (Pro tier)
  • AI-powered chapter generation (Pro tier)
  • Timeline and organizational features
  • Reminder notifications

3. Account Registration

To use LittleChapters, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Subscription and Billing

4.1 Subscription Tiers

  • Free Tier: Unlimited text entries with basic features
  • Pro Tier: £2.99/month with 1 month free trial, includes photo uploads and AI chapters
  • Family Tier: £4.99/month (coming soon), includes multi-user access

4.2 Payment Processing

Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Billing is handled by these platforms according to their terms and policies.

4.3 Free Trial

Pro tier users receive a 1-month free trial. You may cancel anytime during the trial without charge. If not cancelled, your subscription will automatically renew at the standard rate.

4.4 Automatic Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

4.5 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not process direct refunds.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content Ownership

You retain all rights to the content you create in LittleChapters, including journal entries, photos, and AI-generated chapters. We do not claim ownership of your content.

5.2 License to Use Your Content

You grant us a limited license to use your content solely to:

  • Provide the Service (storage, backup, AI chapter generation)
  • Display your content to you within the app
  • Share with users you explicitly authorize (future Family Access feature)

5.3 Content Standards

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights
  • Contains malware or malicious code
  • Infringes intellectual property rights
  • Is hateful, abusive, or harassing

5.4 AI-Generated Content

AI-generated chapters are created from your journal entries. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or inconsistencies. You are responsible for reviewing and approving AI-generated content.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Access another user's account without permission
  • Use automated systems to access the Service
  • Resell or redistribute the Service

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of LittleChapters is subject to our Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting your data in accordance with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws.

8. Intellectual Property

LittleChapters, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use our branding without permission.

9. Termination

9.1 Your Right to Terminate

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

9.2 Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Abuse the Service or other users

9.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, you will lose access to your account and content. We recommend exporting your data before deleting your account.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Accuracy of AI-generated content
  • Complete security against unauthorized access
  • Backup or recovery of lost data

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Loss of data or content
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Lost profits or revenue
  • Service interruptions or technical failures

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any rights of others.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes affecting paid features.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

16. Dispute Resolution

Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us to resolve the dispute informally. If we cannot resolve the dispute within 30 days, either party may pursue legal action.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LittleChapters.

20. Apple App Store Additional Terms

If you download the app from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and LittleChapters, not Apple
  • Apple has no obligation to provide support
  • Apple is not responsible for the app or its content
  • You must comply with Apple's App Store Terms of Service

21. Google Play Store Additional Terms

If you download the app from Google Play:

  • These Terms are between you and LittleChapters, not Google
  • Google has no obligation to provide support
  • Google is not responsible for the app or its content
  • You must comply with Google Play's Terms of Service
